***** ANNOUNCING UPCOMING CHANGES *****
Due to a series of setbacks — some related to COVID restrictions and changes in delinquent dates, others related to our difficult conversion to a new property tax software package – the Jackson County Treasurer has made the decision to NOT hold a tax lien sale in 2020 for tax year 2019 delinquent taxes. Any tax year 2019 property taxes which we are unable to collect by other means, and which might otherwise have been included in the annual tax lien sale, will be carried over into the new year. If we are still unable to collect these 2019 taxes, the delinquencies will be included in the tax lien sale to be conducted in 2021.
We are sorry for any disappointment this causes our tax lien investors, but we are also pleased to note that even in these uncertain times, Jackson County has actually collected over 98 percent of our assessed property taxes for this tax year.
Please continue to watch this space for updates as we move Jackson County forward to a new period of transparency and convenience. Many of the procedures detailed below will change after the transition, and eventually much of this information will be available on our new web portal.
