Date of Notice: October 13, 2016
Colorado Public Utilities Commission Proceeding No. 16A-0751T
You are hereby notified that on October 3, 2016, the Jackson County Emergency Telephone Authority Board filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (the “Commission”) an application to increase the emergency telephone service surcharge affecting all users of telephone services in Jackson County (including users of wireless and voice over internet communications services). The application proposes that the change become effective upon approval by the Commission and 60 days advance notice to telephone service entities responsible for collecting the surcharge. A copy of the application is available for inspection at the offices of the Jackson County Commissioners, 404 4th Street, Walden, CO 80480, or at the office of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, 1560 Broadway, Suite 250, Denver, CO 80202, or by accessing the Commission’s E-Filings system at dora.colorado.gov/puc. The phone number for the Jackson County Emergency Telephone Authority Board is (970) 723-4660.
The requested increase of the surcharge from $0.70 to $1.50 per service line per month is necessary to pay for and maintain, as allowed by C.R.S. Sections 29-11-102 and 104, costs associated with the emergency telephone service and emergency notification service of equipment and installation, monthly recurring charges from service providers, and personnel expenses necessarily incurred for the public safety answering point serving Jackson County.
Anyone who desires may file written comments or objections, or may seek to intervene as a party in this filing. If you only wish to object to the proposed action, you may file a written objection with the Commission. The filing of a written objection by itself will not allow you to participate as a party in the proceedings of the Commission on the proposed action. If you wish to participate as a party in this matter, you must file a written request to intervene pursuant to Commission Rule 1401. Written objections may be filed within 60 days of the filing date of the Application and a request for intervention may be filed within 30 days of the filing date of the Application.
Anyone who desires to file written objections, comments or written intervention documents relating to the application shall file them with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, 1560 Broadway, Suite 250, Denver, CO 80202 or on-line via the Commission E-filing system using the on-line comment form at dora.colorado.gov/puc. Written objections or comments may also be sent via email to email@example.com. The Commission will consider all written comments and objections submitted prior to the evidentiary hearing on the application. Any person desiring information regarding if and when hearings may be held shall submit a written request to the Commission or shall alternatively contact the External Affairs section of the Commission at 303-894-2070 or 800-456-0858.
The Commission may hold a public hearing in addition to an evidentiary hearing on the application. If a public hearing is held, members of the public may attend and may make a statement under oath about the proposed change, whether or not a written objection or request to intervene has been filed with the Commission.
If the application is uncontested or unopposed, the Commission may determine the matter without a hearing and without further notice.
